St. Peter's Episcopal Church ONE BODY, ONE MISSION, CHANGING LIVE St. Peter's Players - Past Performances St. Peter’s Players was founded in 2000 with the dream of beginning a new chancel drama program at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church. Since then, we have mounted numerous productions, making us one of the established theater groups in Greenville. The St. Peter’s Players have brought children and adults together in fellowship and purpose and introduced St. Peters to the community in general. We would like to thank our priest Father Eric for his overwhelming support and fantastic pictures documenting our growth 2000-2001 In October 2000, auditions were held for The Best Christmas Pageant Ever with the dream of beginning a new chancel drama program at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church. With some skepticism a cast of over 20 actors was assembled and rehearsals began. The early December performances caused a buzz as to “how wonderful the production was,” “it was so professional” and “when is the next one!!! They closed the season with a spring fundraiser entitled "Snapshots from Life” with a montage of short scenes from several classic plays. 2001-2002 Under the backdrop of the tragedies of 9-11 they presented Thornton Wilder’s American classic Our Town. On Shrove Tuesday they presented an improvisational game show Who Wants to Go To Heaven? and in the Spring presented two one-act plays; Snow White and the Seven Deadly Sins and one written by Parishioner Michael Wagoner entitled The Revelation of Mr. Jenkins. 2002-2003 Brought their first venture into musical theatre with GODSPELL Shrove Tuesday featured a second improvisational appearance on Shrove Tuesday Laughter on Demand and Maundy Thursday featured a One-Act The State versus Jesus Christ. They closed the season with Snapshots from Broadway — a montage of songs from some of Broadway’s biggest hits. 2003-2004 They opened with Little Women, presented the Palm Sunday Passion, and finished with another musical, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. 2004-2005 The Fantastiks opened the next season which included The Christmas Story, a Shrove Tuesday event of the Passion, and closed withy Pollyanna, and an original play by our own award winning author, Melinda Long, entitled The Least of These. 2005-2006 This season opened with Snapshots from Comedy and closed with The Crucible. 2006-2007 In cooperation with the Service Committee they opened the season with The Long Christmas Dinner and then closed it with Brighton Beach Memoirs. 2007-2008 A new program of a touring Reader’s Theatre production of Two to Read was added along with a repeat performance of The Long Christmas Dinner. The Night Thoreau Spent in Jail closed the season. 2008-2009 The Music Man opened the season and another new program started with a student directed production of The Walls of Jericho. Coming up, again in cooperation with the Service Committee, a benefit production at Center Stage of Love Letters for Hope Academy, “Two to Read” continues touring, and I Remember Mama closed the season.
